Eagle Alert - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Eagle Alert?
Eagle Alert is an emergency notification service that is designed to keep students, faculty and staff at University of the Ozarks informed during emergencies by text message and e-mail.
How do I sign up for the Eagle Alert service?
All Ozarks students, faculty, and staff members are eligible.  To proceed to the Eagle Alert registration page you will need your Ozarks network ID and password.
Can I change my contact preferences?
Yes. You can change your account settings to add different email addresses or phone numbers. You will be allowed to register up to two mobile numbers to receive a text message and two e-mail accounts; remember your Ozarks e-mail account is automatically registered to receive Eagle Alerts.
Will I be notified before my account expires?
Yes. You will be notified via text message and/or e-mail that your account is nearing expiration.  Each July the Eagle Alert will notify you that your service will end.  The registration process for the new academic year will begin in August.
How do I Opt-Out (remove myself) from receiving Eagle Alert?
You can manage, update or opt out of your account by logging in and changing your personal settings.  You may opt-out of email alerts only, Text alerts only, or the entire service.  Each July the Eagle Alert will notify you that your service will end, and the registration process for the new academic year will begin in August.
How do I control what shows up on my phone?
You are given an opportunity to choose the kinds of messages you wish to receive on your mobile phone through a checkbox listing of groups. You can adjust your preferences from your Group settings.  The system will be used only for emergency contact purposes. EAGLE ALERT will not be used to distribute advertising or other unsolicited content.
Will I receive unsolicited messages ("SPAM") on my mobile phone or email account?
NO. Our provider, e2Campus, enforces a ZERO SPAM policy which clearly prohibits unsolicited messages, and e2Campus does not sell the contact information of our subscribers to third party marketers.
Does your service work on multiple cell phone networks?
Yes. e2Campus is a cross-carrier service. See a list of wireless carriers supported here.
Do I need to install software on my phone?
NO. e2Campus uses the industry standard SMS text messaging protocol to send messages to your phone. Your mobile phone plan will need to accept text messages to work properly.
What happens if I don't have text messaging on my phone plan?
Contact the Student Life office for alternate notification methods.
Is there a charge for utilizing the Eagle Alert?
No, the service is free to all students, faculty and staff. Personal cost for text messages depends on your wireless carrier and the plan you have, you may be charged a nominal fee (like ten cents per message) to receive SMS text messages. Many students have unlimited text messaging plans, so there would be no additional charge.
What can I do if I didn't get the validation code that was sent by e2Campus when I signed up?
Log into your Eagle Alert account and check your phone number and provider. If your number or provider is incorrect, then click on "Change Status" to update and resend a validation code. If you still do not, you may need to check with your provider as to what your service or plan includes.
Is there any way to test my phone to see if SMS text messaging works on my phone?
The simplest way is to have a friend try and send you a text message and in return, you send them a text message. If either does not work, you'll want to check with your provider as to what your plan or service includes. If you can send and receive messages, visit the e2Campus cell phone test page to ensure you have chosen the right cellular phone carrier/provider.
How do I sign up?
Signing up for EAGLE ALERT is simple! Just click to register your cell phone with Eagle Alert to receive emergency notifications via text message.
How do I manage my Eagle Alert account?
If you've already registered, login to manage your account and view your message history. When you click the "login" button or the "Forgot your password" link you will leave the Ozarks website and be directed to the appropriate e2Campus page.
What if I still have questions?
